Intro

Verse 1

Not gonna wait, wait for
the walls to fall
I know a name that will
Bring them down
I've got a praise
Waking within my soul
I'm not ashamed to declare
it now

Chorus

Light of the world
Trample the darkness
Nothing can stop it
You are the God of the promise
Every word will be
accomplished
Nothing can stop it
You are the God of the promise

Verse 2

Prepare the way
The King of Glory comes
Before His name
Every fear must bow
Throw off your chains
Jesus destroyed them all
Up from the grave
He is with us now

Instrumental

Bridge

The gates of hell will
Never stand a chance
Your name prevails
Jesus the great I am
No word will fail
No weapon formed against
Your name prevails
Jesus the great I am

God Of The Promise - In the Bible [Verses & Devotional]

We serve a God of the promise, a God who is faithful and true. In the song “God of the Promise” by Elevation Worship, we are reminded of the power of God’s promises and how they can bring down the walls of fear and doubt that stand in our way.

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 55:11 that “so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” God’s promises are sure and certain, and nothing can stop them from coming to pass.

The song also reminds us that Jesus is the King of Glory, and that before His name, every fear must bow. We can take comfort in the fact that Jesus has destroyed the chains of sin and death that once held us captive. He has risen from the grave and is with us now.

The bridge of the song declares that the gates of hell will never stand a chance against the power of Jesus’ name. We can trust that no word of God will fail and no weapon formed against us will prevail. Jesus is the great I Am, and His promises will never fail.

Let us remember that God is the God of the promise, and that His promises are sure and certain. Let us trust in His faithfulness and proclaim His name with confidence.

Amen.
