To our lives upon the altar
The things we did at first

You’re cleaning out the dirt
For we are Your territory
Lord we are Your Church

Where only You can see
For еvery moment matters

Mark Your people with Your presence
Make us a place where You delight
to dwell
May we heed Your hand’s correction
Oh Lord our Shepherd
You do all things well

Your love as firm as it is tender
Your law is perfect and Your
judgments true
As we run to resurrender
You will restore what we return
to You
You are restoring as we yield anew

We are Your temple
Make us holy like You are

Resurrender - In the Bible [Verses & Devotional]

The song Resurrender by Hillsong Worship is a powerful reminder of our need to surrender our lives to God. The lyrics speak of God turning over tables and calling for us to return to Him, to consecrate ourselves to Him, and to make ourselves holy like He is. This is a reminder of the Bible verse 1 Peter 1:15-16 which says, “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’”

The song also speaks of God’s love being both firm and tender, and His law being perfect and His judgments true. This is a reminder of the Bible verse Psalm 19:7-8 which says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.”

The song encourages us to heed God’s hand’s correction and to run to Him in surrender. This is a reminder of the Bible verse Isaiah 30:21 which says, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”

The song reminds us that when we surrender to God, He will restore what we return to Him. This is a reminder of the Bible verse Isaiah 61:7 which says, “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”

We are called to surrender our lives to God and to make ourselves holy like He is. We can do this by heeding His hand’s correction and by running to Him in surrender. When we do this, He will restore what we return to Him and give us everlasting joy.
